We know that every breath we take is amazing and powerful, it allows us to move, think clearly, understand and channel energy throughout the body. Prana the vital life force that is connected with the breath and as we breathe we regulate the flow of prana in the body. The practice of attempting to harness prana or channel this energy through the body is known as pranayama.
As we inhale and exhale, we connect with the expression of the Divine Spirit. We bring this awareness to our practice everytime we come to our mat and practice yoga in the studio and in our home practice. We want to encourage you to take a step back from your yoga practice and focus on your breath practice, your pranayama. Take time to meditate. As Yogi Bhajan says "Between you and Divine Spirit, between you, the creation, and the Creator, there is only one link, and that is the breath of life. God gave you the breath of life, but you life with shallow breathing, and out of your life you expect deep results. It is not possible. The art of deep breathing is also the art of real living."
